Baseball Recap: Oxford Has No Trouble Against Wilby

Oxford won the last time they faced Wilby and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Wildcats. Considering the Wolverines have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Oxford got a great performance from Brady Thompson as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Jackson Geisweit was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nolan Sikorski, who earned one RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases.

Oxford's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. As for Wilby, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Oxford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-4 loss against Seymour on the 12th. As for Wilby, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-8 victory against Waterbury Career Academy on the 12th.
