The team also got some help courtesy of London Hairston, who posted three points in addition to nine rebounds and five blocks.
Clover Garden School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Ascend Leadership can finally bid farewell to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 56-7 win over Covenant C. With the Aviators ahead 33-1 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Ascend Leadership found their leader in freshman Alexa Manon, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Manon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jahniya Wilson, who had ten points.
Ascend Leadership's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Clover Garden School, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Clover Garden School has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Ascend Leadership struggles in that department as they've been averaging 37.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
