Southern Academy got a massive performance out of Drew Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Rogers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Thomas, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Southern Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jackson Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Southern Academy by a score of 11-8 on Thursday.
Hunter Hillman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Hillman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Trey Morgan was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Jackson Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Huntley Dees was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Jackson Academy pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Southern Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Southern Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Jackson Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
