If the Berry Cardinal were riding high off their 53-24 takedown of the West Mecklenburg Hawks last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Berry lost to Olympic on the road by a decisive 46-30 margin on Friday. Berry was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Olympic apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Berry's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamauria Coleman, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Olympic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chai James, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that James scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jasmyn Ashbourne, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Berry's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Olympic, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berry will take on Myers Park at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Myers Park will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Olympic, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against South Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m.
