Softball Recap: Lincoln Victorious

Lincoln proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the South Kingstown Rebels 11-9. This was a revenge game for the Lions: when they faced off against the Rebels back in April, they had to take a 10-2 defeat.

Annika Sampson and Payton Bernardino did most of the damage at the plate: Sampson got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Bernardino got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave Bernardino a new career-high. Alicia Valois was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Kingstown only posted an OBP of .394.

Lincoln now has a winning record of 7-6. As for South Kingstown, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-0 win against Burrillville on the 17th. As for South Kingstown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-2 defeat against East Greenwich on the 18th.
