Basketball Game Preview: Calhoun Falls Charter Blue Flashes vs. Whitmire Wolverines

Calhoun Falls Charter is 10-0 against Whitmire since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Calhoun Falls Charter Blue Flashes will square off against the Whitmire Wolverines at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Calhoun Falls Charter lost to Greenwood Christian on the road by a 48-32 margin. The contest marked the Blue Flashes' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Alexis Sanders, who posted eight points in addition to ten boards and six steals. She is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Autumn Thomas, who scored 14 points.

Meanwhile, Whitmire had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 37-27 victory over GREEN Upstate on Thursday.

Whitmire found their leader in sophomore Brooklynn Babb, who went 8 of 12 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Babb has scored at least a third of Whitmire's points. Brantlee Roche was another key player, putting up four points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Whitmire smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

Whitmire's win bumped their record up to 2-13. As for Calhoun Falls Charter, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.

Everything came up roses for Calhoun Falls Charter against Whitmire in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-23 victory. In that game, Calhoun Falls Charter amassed a halftime lead of 46-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
