The Lake Highland Prep Highlanders are taking a road trip to challenge the Geneva Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Highland Prep has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with six straight defeats, while Geneva will come in with three straight victories.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Lake Highland Prep's offense. They lost 15-0 to Trinity Prep on Thursday.
Meanwhile, while Geneva put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Master's Academy. The Knights blew past the Eagles 10-0. Considering the Knights have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Dallas Esperas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Chloe Incinelli was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Peyton Clark was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Geneva hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Geneva pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Highland Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lake Highland Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Geneva struggles in that department as they've averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lake Highland Prep might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Geneva when the teams last played back in February. Can the Highlanders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
