The Wadley Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 72-57 fall against LaFayette. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wadley in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost five in a row.
Wadley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tedrick Burns, who scored 24 points. Jaquez Wilkes was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 rebounds and nine blocks.
LaFayette found their leader in underclassman Jayden Thompson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Deaundra Vines, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Wadley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for LaFayette, they pushed their record up to 19-6 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wadley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for LaFayette, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Wadley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 109th).
