The Phoenix Military Firebirds will head out on the road to face off against the Wheaton Academy Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Phoenix Military will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 426th, while Wheaton Academy is ranked 86th).
Last Saturday, Phoenix Military was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 27-21 to Lake View.
Meanwhile, Wheaton Academy entered their tilt with Marian Central Catholic with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Wheaton Academy came out on top against Marian Central Catholic by a score of 43-33 on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Brandon Kiebles had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 217 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Kiebles' longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards. Another player making a difference was Brett Kasper, who threw for 108 yards and three touchdowns.
Phoenix Military's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Wheaton Academy, their win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1.
