Madeira hasn't had much luck against Taylor recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS will square off against the Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Madeira came out on top against Lockland on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fifth inning. The MUSTANGS/AMAZONS blew past the Panthers 16-3. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Taylor). They never let Finneytown get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Thursday. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 12 runs or more this season.
Ellie Stafford made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Emma King was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Gabby Fenton, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Taylor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Taylor is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Madeira, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record.
Madeira suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Taylor in their previous matchup on Wednesday. Can the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
