In what's become a running theme this season, the Air Academy Kadets gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They breezed by Discovery Canyon at home to the tune of 81-28. Winning may never get old, but Air Academy sure is getting used to it with their 11th in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Air Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tatyonna Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Brown has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Caitlin Kramer was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with three blocks and two steals.
Addison Hulse and Natalie Neuhaus certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hulse scored eight points along with five rebounds, while Neuhaus scored nine points.
Discovery Canyon struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Air Academy posted 24 assists.
Air Academy pushed their record up to 17-1 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Discovery Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Air Academy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Cheyenne Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Air Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully Cheyenne Mountain likes a good challenge. As for Discovery Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Discovery Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.
