Owyhee is a perfect 5-0 against Centennial since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Storm will head out to square off against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. Owyhee is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Owyhee is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Eagle, who was ranked eighth at the time (Owyhee was ranked first). The Storm blew past the Mustangs 8-1 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Hailey Brennan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, McKenna Schab and Caitlyn Geiser did most of the damage at the plate: Schab went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs, while Geiser went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most runs Schab has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Centennial was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridgevue on Friday, taking the game 13-8.
Centennial got a massive performance out of Jailey Polski ?25, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Josie Moorhouse, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-5.
Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Owyhee's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 9.1 runs thus far. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
Centennial's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Owyhee has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Centennial, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Owyhee's sizable advantage in that area, the Patriots will need to find a way to close that gap.
Owyhee took their victory against Centennial when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Storm since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
