While Anya Chernich delivered a dominant effort on Wednesday, a win just wasn't in the cards for Monroe Catholic. Chernich was dialed in as she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off two hits. She was dominant the last time she took on Delta on May 2nd, so they probably should've seen this coming. Chernich has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

Even though Chernich couldn't lead Monroe Catholic over Delta, she won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams have some work to do to even out the 1-9 series between these two since April of 2021, but a win here would be a good start.
