Section 6 A - South recap October 1, 2013
South Park/Middle Early College moved up to 260 from 354 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 6 A - South.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, West Seneca East beat Hamburg 10-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Trojans.
The Bulldogs' dynamic duo of Alex Suchan and Brendan Ryan proved tough for West Seneca East to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Suchan threw for 115 yards and Ryan had 64 yards receiving.
Brad Achman provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Iroquois defeated Hutchinson-Central Tech/Emerson Vo-Tech. Achman's favorite target this week was Nick Wilkinson, who caught 3 passes for 54 yards.
Tosh Johnson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Hamburg lost to Jim Maurino's team. The 5-foot-9 junior.
Achman was a force in the backfield as the Chiefs bested Hutchinson-Central Tech/Emerson Vo-Tech.
On the heels of Josh Piesczynski and Achman, Iroquois has had great success on offense. Piesczynski is tops in the league in passing with 354 yards, while Achman has rushed for 468 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Lake Shore's Corey Fiutko, with 178 yards on 6 catches.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place West Seneca East takes on second place South Park/Middle Early College.
There should be lots of points scored when Keith Marshall's team and Pat Cauley's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Chiefs comes in having scored 62 this season, while the Bulldogs have scored 54. Iroquois scored 37 points last week as it beat Hutchinson-Central Tech/Emerson Vo-Tech.
The Chiefs were the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to third in Section 6 A - South. Earlier in the week, Iroquois triumphed over Hutchinson-Central Tech/Emerson Vo-Tech 37-12.
