The New Manna Christian Wind have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Matthews Christian Academy on Friday as New Manna Christian made off with a 58-35 win. Given New Manna Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Matthews Christian Academy is ranked 553rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Manna Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from A J Goode, who scored 31 points. Those 31 points set a new season-high mark for him. Micah Wagner was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
New Manna Christian pushed their record up to 6-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Matthews Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, New Manna Christian and Rockwell Christian School will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Matthews Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Scotland Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Hopefully Scotland Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
