The Inter-City Baptist Chargers will venture away from home to face off against the Lutheran Northwest Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Inter-City Baptist came out on top against Clarenceville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run first inning. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Trojans. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Brooke Anthony made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Anthony was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Inter-City Baptist got a massive performance out of Macy Harrison, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Ellie Millner, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lutheran Northwest). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Avondale a 20-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Alyssa Parets was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Madeline Stoetzer also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Lutheran Northwest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .700. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Lutheran Northwest is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Inter-City Baptist, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Inter-City Baptist suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Lutheran Northwest when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
