On Thursday, the Lawrence Central Bears faced the Lawrence North Wildcats in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lawrence Central had just enough and edged Lawrence North out 57-55. The win was familiar territory for Lawrence Central who now have three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Lawrence North lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kamara Mills. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellysa Morris, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Lawrence Central's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Lawrence North, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Lawrence Central will head out on the road to face off against Pike at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pike will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Lawrence Central is ranked first). Lawrence North will be home for the holidays to greet Warren Central at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th.
