Softball Recap: Becton Has No Trouble Against Garfield

While Becton put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Garfield. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Boilermakers. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Boilermakers: they've now won five in a row.

Francesca Buda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Becton let Nina Buda and Kaitlyn Reiner run wild. Buda scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Reiner went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Romano, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Becton's victory bumped their record up to 2-0-1. As for Garfield, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, Becton will square off against Wood-Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Garfield, they will face off against Wallington at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
