The Montesano Bulldogs will square off against the Kelso Hilanders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Montesano comes in on four and Kelso on three.
If Montesano beats Kelso with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Bulldogs never let Hoquiam get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Jaelyn Butterfield was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Addison Kersker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Kelso hadn't done well against Battle Ground recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hilanders came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 9-6.
Kelso also got a great performance from Paityn Mackin as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over 4.1 innings pitched. Mackin has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brooke Hefley, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Karsyn Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Montesano pushed their record up to 12-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kelso, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
Montesano beat Kelso 10-7 in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hilanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
