Sam Spencer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Greene and Lulu West did most of the damage at the plate: Greene went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while West went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Sienna Foster was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Desert Hills lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stansbury didn't launched any.
Meanwhile, Orem made easy work of Mountain Crest on Friday and carried off a 16-9 win.
Orem let Sadie Groneman and Jaileigh DeMaria run wild. Groneman fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while DeMaria fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most home runs Groneman has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Cheyanne Wells, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Desert Hills' victory bumped their record up to 27-3. As for Orem, their win bumped their record up to 19-12.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Desert Hills hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Orem struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Desert Hills got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 against Orem by a conclusive 12-6 score. Do the Thunder have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
