Sugar-Salem is 10-0 against Teton since October of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Sugar-Salem Diggers will be staying on the road to face off against the Teton Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on November 18th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Sugar-Salem rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 25-7 win over Weiser. Given Sugar-Salem's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Weiser is ranked 26th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sugar-Salem had a senior duo take command as Tate Cutler gained 101 total yards and two touchdowns and Carson Harris rushed for 85 yards and two touchdowns. Harris is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Sugar-Salem's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Ryan Bingham was the leader with two sacks.
Meanwhile, Teton came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 49-42 victory over Homedale. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Teton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thomas Heuseveldt, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 78 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Nelson, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns.
Sugar-Salem's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Teton, they have yet to lose a game on the road this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Sugar-Salem commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6.1 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Teton struggles in that department as they've been even better at 6.6 per game.
