The Goessel Bluebirds will be playing at home against the Canton-Galva Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
While Goessel couldn't quite beat Elyria Christian on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 51-point loss they were dealt on Saturday. Goessel fell just short of Elyria Christian by a score of 28-25. Goessel has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Canton-Galva's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 72-28 loss at the hands of Little River. While losing is never fun, Canton-Galva can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Little River is ranked 36th).
Goessel's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Canton-Galva, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.
Goessel and Canton-Galva were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but Goessel came up empty-handed after a 41-40 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Canton-Galva's Trinity Espinoza, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Now that Goessel knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
