Arcola put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let the Cumberland Pirates get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Those four runs were actually the fewest the Purple Riders have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Tanner Thomas was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Thomas wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brody Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Arcola's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Cumberland, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-8.
