The Hiawatha Hawks will take on the Christian Liberty Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Christian Liberty took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hiawatha, who comes in off a win.
Hiawatha will bounce into Friday's game after beating Alden-Hebron, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Hawks never let the Green Giants get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Saturday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.
Thomas Giebel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Hiawatha is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise. Giebel was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
