Basketball Game Preview: Kelly Catholic Bulldogs vs. Legacy Prep Christian Academy Lions

The Kelly Catholic Bulldogs will face off against the Legacy Prep Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kelly Catholic is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

Kelly Catholic is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing O'Connell: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Kelly Catholic blew O'Connell out of the water with a 53-7 final score. With the Bulldogs ahead 29-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Kelly Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mattie Holmes out in front who posted 21 points. Holmes' afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Abigail Brown was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Legacy Prep Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in December of 2024. They strolled past Texas Truth HomeSchool with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 57-41. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Truth are ranked 516th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Legacy Prep Christian Academy's win came from a few key players Kelly Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ava Brieger, who put up 15 points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Wilson, who had nine points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Legacy Prep Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Legacy Prep Christian Academy pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.
