Gallia Academy suffered their closest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Rock Hill by a score of 42-40.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Portsmouth ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They managed a 72-66 victory over Rock Hill. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Deandre Berry was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 40 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Donnovan Breech was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Gallia Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Portsmouth, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.
Gallia Academy lost to Portsmouth on the road by a decisive 65-47 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Berry, who scored 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
