The Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran Blazers are taking a road trip to challenge the Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran is coming into the matchup on a 12-game losing streak dating back to last season.
On Friday, Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran came up short against Hilbert and fell 8-3.
Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lutheran got the win against Hilbert on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-5. With that win, the Lancers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Isaiah Hochmuth made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Manitowoc Lutheran is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Hochmuth was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. That hit was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Aaden Krause looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Haupt, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Joel Voigt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Manitowoc Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .410. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Manitowoc Lutheran, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Everything went Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran's way against Manitowoc Lutheran in their previous meeting back in May of 2017, as Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blazers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
