Southern Maryland recap October 22, 2013
Patuxent extended the longest winning streak in Southern Maryland this week by beating Lackey, 28-20. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
Leonardtown and Westlake played the most contested game in the league this week, with Leonardtown eventually emerging with a 13-12 victory. Cortez Bush threw for 91 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 17 yards in the win.
Tyler Crounse was a passing and rushing force as Patuxent bested the Chargers. He completed 10 passes for 172 yards and also ran for 150 yards. Crounse's key target this week was Mike Henry, who caught 3 passes for 49 yards.
Alex Calvert threw for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 12-20 with 2 interceptions.
Jack Pilkerton was the best receiver in the league this week as La Plata fell to McDonough. Pilkerton racked up 5 receptions for 133 yards. Anthony Cable helped La Plata's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 47 yards.
Leading Southern Maryland in both passing and receiving yards, the Warriors' Calvert and Pilkerton have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Calvert has thrown for 1,602 yards this season, while Pilkerton has 45 catches for 879 yards. Marquel Dickerson from North Point leads the league in rushing with 1,344 yards.
At the moment, the Panthers are in first, while Stone is in third.
Huntingtown took down Great Mills 31-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
