The Jemison Panthers suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 51-20 loss at the hands of Chilton County. Jemison was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.
Chilton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Iasia Anderson led the charge by scoring ten points along with nine assists and eight steals. Anderson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ivyonna Varner was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Jemison has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Chilton County, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-8.
Jemison will be playing at home against Thorsby at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Chilton County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Calera at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Calera is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
