Lone Oak is 0-3 against Bells since October of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lone Oak Buffaloes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bells Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Lone Oak will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 767th, while Bells is ranked 284th).
Last Friday just wasn't the day for Lone Oak's offense. They had to suffer through a rough 75-0 loss at the hands of Gunter. Having soared to a lofty 44 points in the game before, Lone Oak couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Bells put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 63-14 victory over Howe. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-7.
Easton Helgren was his usual excellent self, rushing for 184 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries. Helgren's longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards. Hayden Allen was another key contributor, rushing for 93 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Lone Oak's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Grace Community (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75% over those games). As for Bells, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.
Lone Oak was taken down by Bells 78-26 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Lone Oak have more luck at home instead of on the road?
