The Montclair Cavaliers will square off against the Bloomington Bruins at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Montclair took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Garey 15-5. The Cavaliers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 24, 2025 (when they won 31-1).
The team relied heavily on Mya Ruiz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Marlie Cardenas was another key player, going 2-for-5 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Montclair always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Garey only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bloomington). They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Pacific on Wednesday.
Ashley S. Torres was a standout: she got on base in all 11 of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kathia Rosas, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Montclair now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Bloomington, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Bloomington's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Montclair hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407. It's a different story for Bloomington, though, as they've only averaged .217. Will they be able to contain Montclair's hitters?
