The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 60-30 loss at the hands of North Augusta. While losing is never fun, Aiken can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while North Augusta is ranked eighth).
Several Fighting Green Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Malasia Jamison, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Jamison hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Norriyah Bradley, who scored four points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Aiken has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season. As for North Augusta, their win was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aiken will square off against Midland Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
