Basketball Recap: Mater Brickell Academy Takes a Loss

Mater Brickell Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 71-51 to the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions. If the Bulls were looking for revenge after losing 43-40 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Mater Brickell Academy lost, don't look at Antonio Medina. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points along with five boards and three steals. Medina is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sergio Murtinho, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points.

Mater Brickell Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Immaculata-La Salle, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.

Mater Brickell Academy will welcome Downtown Doral at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Downtown Doral is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they will face off against Divine Savior Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Divine Savior Academy will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Immaculata-La Salle surely won't give up without a fight.
