St. John hadn't done well against Shawnee recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bluejays walked away with a 4-0 win over the Indians. This was payback for the Bluejays, who suffered a 6-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cam Elwer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Elwer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tyce McClain was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

St. John's has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.5 runs this season. As for Shawnee, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, St. John's is taking a road trip to square off against Spencerville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shawnee, they will be playing at home against Ottawa-Glandorf at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Indians their first taste of in-conference action this season.
