Make it nine blowout wins for the Gaffney Indians this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Boiling Springs 85-37 at home. The win was familiar territory for Gaffney who now have eight in a row.
Gaffney's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tianah Hopper, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Hopper continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Shiriah Harris was another key contributor, scoring 22 points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Boiling Springs lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sarah Ezell. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points.
Gaffney is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Boiling Springs, they bumped their record down to 7-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gaffney won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Spartanburg at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. One thing working in Spartanburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Boiling Springs, they will head out on the road to challenge James F. Byrnes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully James F. Byrnes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
