Cypress Bay had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Stoneman Douglas Eagles 40-7. Winning may never get old, but the Lightning sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.
Jaylin Reid went supernova, rushing for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 62 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan P, who threw for 172 yards and a pair of TDs.
Cypress Bay wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 40-24 defeat against Flanagan on the 28th. As for Stoneman Douglas, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Deerfield Beach at 7:00 p.m. on the 4th.
