The Columbus Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Callaway Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Columbus will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while Callaway is ranked 22nd).
Last Tuesday, Columbus ended up a good deal behind Vicksburg and lost 47-28.
In what's become a running theme this season, Callaway gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They breezed by Warren Central on the road to the tune of 77-13. The victory was nothing new for Callaway as they're now sitting on three straight.
Callaway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jernae Ringgold, who scored 20 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ringgold has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Washington, who scored 16 points.
Columbus' defeat was their 13th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Callaway, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Columbus, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 44-28 loss to Callaway in their previous meeting on January 9th. Can Columbus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
