On Tuesday, Mason was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-38 to Archbishop Moeller. That's two games in a row now that Mason has lost by exactly four points.
Meanwhile, Fairfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 52-47 to Oak Hills.
Mason has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Fairfield, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-11.
Mason lost to Fairfield on the road by a decisive 68-50 margin when the teams last played back in January. Can Mason avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
