JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - After four lead changes,
Richland (Johnstown, Pa.) took the lead for the win when
Matt Shaffer threw a touchdown with under a minute left in the fourth quarter and held on to beat
Somerset (Pa.) 28-24 on Saturday.
The Eagles pulled ahead on a field goal, and subsequently went into halftime leading 16-14. The Rams took the lead to win the game on a touchdown pass by Shaffer in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring seven points in the third, Richland still trailed by three points going into the fourth quarter. But seven points in the fourth helped RHS pull out the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Somerset, which notched a 28-7 victory over Greater Johnstown in its previous outing.
Richland (6-0) goes up against Westmont Hilltop in a Laurel Highlands game matchup next week, while Somerset (5-1) locks horns with Bedford also in a Laurel Highlands game.
