The Stratton Eagles came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 46 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 62-51 win over Byers. That's another feather in the cap for Stratton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Stratton was led to victory by Cyler Notter and Von Isenbart. Notter scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, while Isenbart dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Isenbart hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Ethan Bohnen was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Byers saw an underclassman step up: Quincy Eacret scored 19 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Cameron Eastwood, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Stratton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Byers, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stratton will take on Flagler at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Stratton's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Flagler has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Byers will take on Deer Trail at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Deer Trail will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 337th, while Byers is ranked 119th).
