The Minden Whippets are taking a road trip to take on the Milford Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Minden turned things around against Holdrege on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-14 victory over the Dusters. Considering the Whippets' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Caleb Schwenka was his usual excellent self, rushing for 263 yards and six TDs while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Parker Hatch helped out on the ground, rushing for 177 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Minden was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 477 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Milford got the win against Lincoln Christian on Thursday by a conclusive 44-22. Considering the Eagles have won four games by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Milford's win came from a few key players Minden will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Landon Roth, who threw for 193 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes. Zeb Reil did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 65 receiving yards.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Milford, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Isaac Roth, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Minden's record now sits at 2-3. As for Milford, their record is now 4-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Minden has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 224.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 173.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Minden came up short against Milford in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 21-8. Can the Whippets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
