Fort Wayne Canterbury hasn't had much luck against Bluffton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cavaliers are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 5:00 p.m.
Things were looking good for Fort Wayne Canterbury after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 8-4 to Fort Wayne Wayne.
JP Rohwer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Hayes, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Bluffton came out on top against Bellmont on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Braves 13-11. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Braves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Axton Beste was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Beste wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Easton Blair, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Blair has posted since back in May of 2024. Another was Grayson Crowder, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.
Bluffton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Bluffton's record is now 8-4. As for Fort Wayne Canterbury, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Fort Wayne Canterbury suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Bluffton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
