The Iota Bulldogs will challenge the Crowley Gent at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Iota is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Iota will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Church Point on Tuesday. Iota put the hurt on Church Point with a sharp 12-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Saige Cherry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Iota let Haydyn Schexnayder and Charli Sonnier run wild. Schexnayder went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Sonnier went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Sonnier a new career-high. Chloe Bordelon was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Iota hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Church Point struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Crowley was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They came up short against Mamou, falling 11-1.
Iota is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Crowley's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Iota hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Crowley struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Iota took their victory against Crowley in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 by a conclusive 24-0. Does Iota have another victory up their sleeve, or will Crowley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
