East Troy hasn't had much luck against Delavan-Darien recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Trojans will venture away from home to take on the Comets at 4:45 p.m. East Troy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
East Troy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Brodhead/Juda 2-0.
Brodhead/Juda's batters probably weren't too happy with Seth Lingford, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (he gave up a single walk).
At the plate, East Troy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Pettijohn, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Delavan-Darien might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Edgerton who claimed the real prize. The Comets fell just short of the Crimson Tide by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Comets have suffered since April 11, 2024.
Jacob Huff made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Chris Elguero, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.
Delavan-Darien's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-6-1. As for East Troy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Troy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like Delavan-Darien struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Troy couldn't quite get it done against Delavan-Darien when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
