The Camden County Wildcats posted their closest win yet this season on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Lowndes out 57-54. Given Camden County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while Lowndes is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elyiss Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Ja'Marley Riddle was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
When it comes to explaining why Lowndes lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kam Jackson. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Camon, who scored ten points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Camden County and bumps their season record up to 16-4. As for Lowndes, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camden County will take on Impact Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Impact Christian Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games. As for Lowndes, Lowndes and Columbia will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
