For the first time this season, Chandler Prep will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Pima Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Chandler Prep was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against St. Augustine Catholic on Thursday. The Titans put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 15-8 win. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pima). Everything went their way against ALA - Mesa North on Wednesday as they made off with a 25-7 win. Considering the Roughriders have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Liliana Apodaca was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Apodaca was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Pima got a massive performance out of Josie McEuen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave McEuen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lynzee Kouts, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Pima was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .696. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Pima's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Chandler Prep, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Chandler Prep was able to grind out a solid victory over Pima in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, winning 12-8. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Roughriders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
