The Winner Warriors won the last time they faced the Tri-Valley Mustangs, and things went their way on Saturday too. Winner walked away with a 42-34 win over Tri-Valley. The team ran away with 31 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
Winner found their leader in underclassman Kylie Sachtjen, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Sachtjen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Barfuss, who scored nine points.
Winner is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Tri-Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winner will take on Corsica/Stickney at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Corsica/Stickney will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Winner is ranked 27th). As for Tri-Valley, they will be playing at home against West Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Central is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
