The Rye Thunderbolts will venture away from home to square off against the Crowley County Chargers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Rye is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Rye turned things around against Colorado Springs Christian on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbolts, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Wyatt Scheid made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rye is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise. Scheid was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Rye got a big performance out of Jackson Bjorum, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Bjorum has become a key player for the Thunderbolts: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Pierce Burris also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Rye hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colorado Springs Christian struck out 14 times.
Meanwhile, Crowley County suffered their biggest defeat since May 13, 2025 on Wednesday. They came up short against Peyton, falling 9-2. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.
Crowley County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Rye, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Rye might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Crowley County in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Thunderbolts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
