The Stone Tomcats will head out on the road to face off against the Gautier Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Stone suffered their biggest loss since December 14, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Laurel 61-21. While losing is never fun, Stone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Laurel is ranked 18th).
Meanwhile, Gautier was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 41-37 to East Central.
Stone's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Gautier, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-14.
Stone beat Gautier 47-35 in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Gautier's Callie Cowan, who scored 23 points along with three steals.
