Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Putnam Valley

Putnam Valley got themselves on the board against The Leffell School on Tuesday, but The Leffell School never followed suit. They blew past the Lions 9-0. Considering the Tigers have won six contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sean Carroll was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Eli Pierce looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Louis Peduto was excellent, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Jake Peterson, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The win was the fourth in a row for Putnam Valley, bringing their record up to 8-1. As for The Leffell School, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Putnam Valley will square off against Bronxville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed seven runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for The Leffell School, they will challenge Tuckahoe at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
